Light of Christ   

The crackling sound of new-lit fire
Blazing on a dark night lifts the soul
and white tapers sparkle into flames...
it is the holiest of nights.

What fans the flame of Easter candle?
Is it the Lumen Christi proclaimed,
answered with thanks for this night?

O no, it is the quiet, fragrant breath
of white narcissus blossoms
waiting for the three-fold ALLELUIA!
